Club Statement: Our New Home

Following the announcement of the launch of Sheffield Trinity Academy on 14th June 2026, the club has been working diligently behind the scenes to secure a long-term home for both our matchday pitch and training facilities.

We are delighted to confirm that, from the 2026–27 season onwards, Parson Cross Park will become the home ground for our First Team and Under 8s.

In recent months, we have engaged closely with Sheffield City Council’s Parks and Countryside team, alongside their project officer for Sports, Leisure and Events. We have been extremely impressed by the significant improvements already delivered at the site, as well as the exciting long-term vision for its continued development—something we are proud to be part of.

The club will join Sheffield Oaks RUFC, Sheffield Hawks ARLFC, and Sheffield Wednesday’s Community Programme as key users of the site. This partnership will provide access to the Sports Pavilion, alongside high-quality, well-maintained grass pitches located on the upper tier of the sports fields.

Statement from Iain Atkins

“I am genuinely excited about establishing Parson Cross Park as our home—not just for the 2026–27 season, but for the long term. Bringing the club back into the S5 area is something we have been keen to achieve for a number of years, reconnecting with the community roots the club was founded on.
We began our journey at Concord Park back in 2008 before moving to Steel City, and in recent years have operated across a number of venues due to pitch availability challenges across the city.

Many will remember the previous setup at Parson Cross Park, where pitch conditions and facilities could present difficulties—particularly during periods of poor weather. However, the transformation has been remarkable. Even after recent heavy rainfall, the pitches remained in excellent condition—dry, stable, and fully playable. This is a testament to the substantial investment and maintenance work undertaken in recent years, alongside the refurbishment of the pavilion and changing facilities.

The long-term ambitions for the site, and the opportunity for the club to play an active role in shaping its future, were key factors in our decision—particularly as we transition into a multi-team club structure from the 2026–27 season.”

Statement from Mark Carlile

"To be starting an Under 8s team at Parson Cross Park, in a season when the club is putting down long-term roots in S5, is a brilliant way to begin. Having played for the First Team and been involved in grassroots football in this city for 30 years, I know exactly what a proper home ground means.

Grassroots football has given me an enormous amount over three decades: teammates, friendships, and more weekends than I can count. Being able to pass that on to the next group coming through, at a club I've played for and in the community the club was founded in, is genuinely something I've been looking forward to for a long time.

Our focus in this first season is simple. We want the children to enjoy their football, to improve week on week, and to feel part of Sheffield Trinity from the very start — training on the same pitches and using the same facilities as the First Team. Confidence, good habits and a love of the game come first; the rest follows.

I'd like to thank everyone who has worked to get the Under 8s off the ground, and to the parents and volunteers who have already given up their time. We can't wait to get started, and we'd encourage anyone in the area with a child interested in playing to come along and be part of our first season."
